How Can I Diagnose A Mould Allergy?
Mould allergy diagnosis can be done any time of the year. This is because mould allergic reactions can happen in a confined space like a home or an office and it can happen in an outdoor situation.
One way of diagnosing a mould allergy is by;
Visiting a doctor
• Doctors are rarely wrong when it comes to mould allergies. They can easily differentiate them from other types of allergies and on top of that, provide the right kind of medication to curb the mould allergy.
• Seeing a doctor is wise because the right tools are going to be used to determine the extent of the allergy.
• Doctors save time in the sense that they do not do guess work which can endanger a life.
• Doctors can have a blood test done and this will determine if the person is allergic to mould. This is not a test that can be done by anyone. Doctors know how to carry out the blood test and also what to look for in the blood to determine if the person is allergic to mould or not.
Pointing out allergy signs
A mould allergic reaction will cause symptoms common to other types of allergies. When a lot of coughing and sneezing is experienced then that could be a mould allergic symptom. A running nose is also another indication of a mould allergy. And if it is followed by constant tearing of the eyes and the urge to itch the eyes, then that could be a clear sign of a mould reaction.
Signs of asthmatic attacks
Mould allergic reactions could seriously trigger asthmatic attacks. Any wheezing due to trouble in breathing could be a sign on an asthma attack which could indicate that a mould allergy is present.
Allergy skin tests
Allergy skin tests can also point out possible mould allergic reactions. Three different types of skin tests can be done;
• Skin pricking
• Skin patching
• And intra dermis injection
Skin pricking and intra dermis injection brings by immediate results. Patching on the other hand takes about forty eight hours to show results. All the skin tests involve various allergens put on the skin and in this case the allergens will have to contain mould. If the skin reacts in a manner that rashes are experienced and also swellings, that is an indication of skin allergies.
A diagnosis has to be accurate so that the right treatment method can be employed. Medications include antihistamines and asthma patients should not use it because it will not bring by any results. Usage of eye drops or even nasal sprays can be opted in order to avoid the cases of sever mould allergic reactions.
The type of medication used solely depends on the diagnosis made. If the mould allergic reaction is severe then the prescribed medication will be used in order to reduce the allergy.
After a proper diagnosis, having the home and work place entirely clean will be really important in order to avoid the reactions.
